Rumours are swirling in the music industry about a potential collaboration between Chinese singer Jackson Wang and Punjabi music icon Diljit Dosanjh. While neither artist has officially confirmed the project, speculation has intensified after reports on Indian news websites.
Jackson Wang, the Chinese K-pop singer and founder of Team Wang, has been said to be expanding his global reach beyond China, South Korea and Hong Kong with collaborations. Meanwhile, Diljit Dosanjh, a leading figure in Punjabi and Bollywood music, has also been making waves internationally with his recent performances and releases.
Now the Indian news media has expressed the possibility of a crossover track blending Wang’s K-pop influences with Dosanjh’s signature Punjabi sound. Neither camp has released an official statement, but industry sources suggest discussions may be underway for a collaboration between Diljit Dosanjh and the Chinese K-pop singer.
According to Wikipedia, in August 2019, Jackson Wang uploaded a photo of the Chinese flag and declared himself as “one of 1.4 billion guardians of the Chinese flag” on his official Weibo account, after a People’s Republic of China flag was removed and tossed into the Victoria Harbour during the 2019–20 Hong Kong protests. In a January 2020 interview with Forbes, Wang introduced himself as “Jackson Wang from China” and stated: “My goal is just to put my name out on the table just to let everybody to get to know me. I want to … let people know that Chinese kids are working on good music too.”
